HSW 102: Introduction to Geriatric Specialization

DESCRIPTION:

This Program of Study underscores the complexities of providing care, given the special challenges faced by the elderly such as but not limited to, multiple chronic illnesses. Understanding the different client’s condition helps the caregiver provide a more specialized care. This Program of Study is equivalent to additional 4 (four) hour training to meet and exceed requirements defined by the Illinois Department of Public Health Administrative Code Part 245.

GOAL:

To provide learners with primary understanding and provides guidelines in caring for specific needs of the geriatric population, such as knowledge of signs and symptoms to watch for, strategies in lifestyle adaptations, and functions for increased well-being.
